Hero of the Caribbean...........and comfort food

Another beautiful beach scene
We've left Carriacou. The night before after happy hour a German boat arrives in the dark..........a completely half assed one at that (dented hull, manual windlass, etc) and tries to anchor in the shallow bay near us (15 ft. deep).

He's not able to stick the landing because the guy at the front of the boat is lowering chain like it's insulin and he's diabetic.......7 times they fail to anchor successfully, then get really close to us for their 8th try............which causes me to lose it. "Are you kidding me ? Why the hell can't you anchor ? It's 15 ft !!!!!!"

The German replies "If you are such a hero, please help us." If the dinghy had been down, I would have gone over there (machete in hand). They ended up on the other side of the bay, but those were two dudes who don't belong on a sailboat. The next morning, all 4 of us were up early..........the Germans to try again to anchor close to us........and us to get an early start for Grenada. When we saw them coming, we compressed 30 minutes of departure ritual into 45 seconds and left quickly. We didn't want them to have another chance to hit our boat.

Prickly Bay, Grenada

We sailed super quickly (averaging 7.5 knots) to Grenada. The only problem was our continued struggles to land a fish............this time, both lures caught seagrass and began spinning (unbeknownst to us)........result was 50 meters of super tangled line. After that my fishing rod (I think a birthday gift to me when I was in high school) broke.  Also, my favorite squid lure now is missing and eye and a tentacle, the poor guy. Good thing he has health insurance. I'm nearly desperate enough to put my hook through a salmon steak and throw it overboard just so I can experience catching a fish.......even if it's frozen.

We haven't been to Prickly Bay in almost 3 years and have such good memories here. We've done boat work here, socialized quite a bit, and perfected being wastrels in this very bay............passing  time with sailing friends and strong cocktails. There's a certain feel to this place that reduces stress (not that we've experienced that lately) and just chills you out.

Prickly Bay Marina - ready for Bingo tonight!

We're starting to do boat projects again..........but most can wait..........our motto here in Grenada is "Lets build a better tomorrow...............tomorrow".

A bit like summer camp for cruisers
