Back in the saddle.........and off the grid

No man is an island.......Kirstin, however disagrees After sneaking out of Papeete Airport with our $4,000 of boat parts we cabbed our way back to the marina. Visions of various nightmare scenarios involving L'ORIENT's condition danced through our heads. For the uninitiated, leaving a boat for 42 days is not like leaving a car in long term parking at the airport. A host of things can happen to an unattended boat, all of them bad. Lightning strikes, dead batteries, fried electronics, collision damage, theft, power surges, power outages, mold, vermin infestation, oh.....and sinking. I had visions of my conversation with our boat watcher Pierre as I look at our boat in the slip with only the mast visible above the water.... Tom- "So, Pierre....thanks for watching L'ORIENT. Can you tell me what happened before I kill you?" Pierre- "Tom, I swear.........this is how you left it. It is not my fault." We checked the boat top to bottom and voila! Everything still
