Secret Agent Man

Karel's - our internet hotspot
We've been away from the US since last December........plenty of time to perfect this neglected science known as leisure. Despite our whiz-bang boat (clothes washer, dish washer, microwave, oven, three refrigerators, huge TV monitor.......you get the picture), a singular problem has been dogging us- that being consistent access to the internet.

Bonairians don't seem to need wifi to do whatever it is that they do around here. We've tried pre-paid cards, pay sites, everything. The result is usually that Colbert streams very slowly, pausing in mid quip. John Stewart (our other internet vice) also stops, usually during his Woody Allen-like diatribes. To make matters worse, Sirius satellite radio has hiccups as well.............it's hard to enjoy a sunset and Chardonnay while XM-Chill (Channel 53 for you subscribers) is fading in and out.

Karel's - our boat is in distance
So last night, we go to happy hour at Karel's Beach Bar on a secret mission..........we're going to do a little "stealing". A young Columbian server with little intelligence comes over and asks, "Can I help you ?" What's weird, is that she's standing in front of a poster advertising the coming Bonaire Regatta............on the poster, this very Columbian server is featured in a little black dress and 4 inch heels. Guess models are too expensive for these promotions so the staff have to pitch in.

"Can I help you ?"  Uh, oh, yeah. "We need the bar's wifi password". She cheerfully gives it to us. Now, you're only supposed to use it while drinking Karel's Beach Bar cocktails. But this suggestive senorita has no idea that our yacht is moored only 100 meters away and we have a wifi-stealing antenna. Bang-zoom. We gulp down our drinks, get back on the boat..................internet problems solved. Calls home ? No problem because Skype calling is virtually free. Sirius radio ? Streaming off the internet loud and clear. Miss the NFL a little down here in Bonaire ? Not any more. NFL Game Pass is ordered and I get my two hour fix of football (watching seven games at once) every Sunday. Life WAS good...........now it's even better.
Internet access - yippeeee!
